saints

Not all the figures in these paintings are Saints, but some of them are. I have always been inspired by figures representing the human body, and used them as my painting subjects. I started with dolls in college, and these days I like painting statues from Italy, and Santos from New Mexico. I like these objects because the fact that they’re not a human person makes its easier to relate to them. You can project your triumphs and struggles onto them, and they mirror you back, bringing a personal element into the work.
